Please find the draft programme of the latest in a series of events memorialising the life and work of Professor Eric Mottram (1924-1995), which on this occasion also comprises a celebration of the work of Jerome Rothenberg. A two-day Event in celebration of the work of

Eric Mottram and Jerome Rothenberg    

 

Day one. Saturday, 12th March 2022

 

10.00              Brief introduction to the event.

 

10.20              Session 1. Poetry & Sound Poetry with Jerome Rothenberg and Charlie Morrow, poetry of Eric Mottram and Jerome Rothenberg.

                       

11.00              Session 2. Allen Fisher reading works by Eric Mottram and other poets valued and celebrated by Eric Mottram.

           

11.45              Break

 

12.00              Session 3. Jeff Hilson presents an event with Steve McGarty: Eric Mottram’s seminars on Radical Poetics

 

13.00             LUNCH

 

14.15              Session 4. Janette Cheong introduces and shows her 1972 film collaboration with Eric Mottram, “The Question in the Village”, narrated by Hugh Quarshie and with music for the soundtrack composed and performed by Jonathan Dove.

 

14.30              Session 5. Round table, chaired by Robert Hampson,

with Hélène Aji, Ken Edwards, Amy Evans, Michael Hrebeniak, Matt Martin, Peter Middleton, Jerome Rothenberg and Gavin Selerie.

 

16.00              Session 6. Eric Mottram and Jerome Rothenberg: A discussion chaired by Allen Fisher, participation from Jerome Rothenberg, Charles Bernstein and Gavin Selerie. Eric Mottram and the first meetings with Jerome Rothenberg and Charles Bernstein. Gavin Selerie’s Riverside interview with Jerome Rothenberg.
